While you might have seen dolphins at sea in a marine reserve, it is still far more fun to observe these majestic animals in their natural environment. Our captains are experienced in the waterways of St. Andrew Bay and can predict wild dolphin behavior, but they cannot guarantee sightings. The Gulf of Mexico's marine mammals are comprised of dolphins, whales, sea lions, and one coastal sirenian species, the West Indianmanatee (Trichechus menatus). Sea lions and fur seals are not found here, nor are sea-going orter otters.

Dolphins can be gentle but they can also get angry. If they get mad, they will make a loud, clapping sound with their jaws. They may also slap water hard with the tails. Dolphins can be very helpful.

Wild dolphins will bite only when they feel threatened, angry or afraid. People who try to swim alongside them can cause disturbance. Dolphins who have become career begging can be aggressive, pushy, and threatening if they don’t get the help they need.
A dolphin tour is also a wonderful sightseeing opportunity. All tour boats depart from the docks at Adventure at Sea in Lower Grand Lagoon and cruise south, crossing the pass between St. Andrew Bay and the Gulf of Mexico on the way toward Shell Island. You can enjoy the view and spot sea birds and maybe a sea turtle while keeping a sharp eye open for dolphins.
Fin Whale. The fin whale is second in size to the whales on Earth, only behind the blue whale. It can grow up to 88 feet in length and can weigh as high as 76 tonnes, making it one of the largest marine species in the Gulf of Mexico.
Under the Marine Mammal Protection Act, swimming with spinner dolphins at rest could be considered "harassment." This Act prohibits any act that could disrupt the behavior of a marine mammal by causing torment, harassment, or other nuisances.
